Description

The Seeds of Hope granting program exists to nurture creative and visionary initiatives that help bring the United Church’s values to life. Rooted in the spirit of the New Creed, the program supports projects that seek justice, live with respect in Creation, and embody love and service to others.

As the primary granting program of The United Church of Canada Foundation, Seeds of Hope provides vital support to a wide range of ministries and organizations. Each Spring and Fall, we award funding to dozens of projects that reflect innovation, compassion, and a commitment to meaningful change.

We welcome applications from a diverse group of potential partners, including congregations, camps, theological schools, outdoor education centres, Regional Councils, and other organizations—both within and outside the United Church—that share our values and vision.
These granting opportunities are made possible through the faithful generosity of United Church members and donors. To learn more about the specific funds that support this program, please visit our website here.

Eligibility

The Joint Grants Committee warmly invites applications to the Seeds of Hope granting program from United Church ministries, communities of faith/congregations, and other organizations.

We welcome proposals for innovative projects that inspire hope, foster connection, and nurture transformative change in our communities that also align with our shared values and demonstrate a commitment to:

·       Developing creative and compassionate ministries for seniors
·       Celebrating and empowering children and youth
·       Addressing environmental sustainability and social justice issues
·       Exploring new approaches to ministry and support during times of transition
·       Creating opportunities to experience and deepen faith and spirituality

To be considered by the Joint Grants Committee, all applications must be submitted by the stated deadline, using the appropriate form, and must be complete in all respects.

Priority will be given to proposals that:

·       Serve The United Church of Canada as a whole or benefit a broad constituency within the Church or its partner organizations
·       Clearly address at least one of the Foundation’s four priority areas
·       Demonstrate innovation and explore new expressions of ministry
·       Show potential for ongoing impact beyond the duration of the grant
·       Strengthen the capacity of organizations that support the mission and work of The United Church of Canada

Applicants submitting pilot or start-up projects are encouraged to include a clear plan for evaluation and outline strategies for financial sustainability beyond the initial phase.
